Bhubaneswar: A group of unidentified miscreants hurled bombs near the ladies hostel of Utkal University here on Sunday.
However, no injury was reported in the incident.
On being informed, Police Commissioner Y B Khurania accompanied by senior police personnel rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Heavy police force has been deployed in and around the university premises to prevent any further escalation of tension.
The incident took place soon after a violent clash broke out between two groups of students. The bombs were reportedly hurled due to suspected poll-related rivalry.
On Saturday, some students were injured and several vehicles damaged following a scuffle between students beloging to three groups on the university campus.
