Berhampur: A bag containing bombs was recovered from an under-construction building in Berhampur city of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
As per preliminary information, around 30 bombs were found packed in the kit bag found in Khajuria area of the city by the Baidyanathpur police.
Sources said several youths abandoned the bag and fled after seeing the police personnel who were on a patrol in the area. Finding the activities of the youths suspicious, the police carefully inspected the site and found the bag.
After finding the bombs, the police immediately cordoned off the area and called in a bomb disposal team. The team successfully defused the bombs, which were later destroyed by a battery-powered device.
In another incident, unidentified miscreants reportedly hurled bombs at the residence of a bamboo trader at Subhadrapur under the jurisdiction of the Cuttack Sadar police station late on Friday night. However, no one was reportedly hurt in the incident.
