Balangir: In a major boost to sports in western Odisha’s Balangir district, an Indoor stadium was inaugurated at PR School here on Sunday.
The indoor stadium, supported by GAIL (India) Limited under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, was formally opened by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Hardeep Singh Puri.
Among other dignitaries present at the inauguration were Odisha Minister Tukuni Sahu, Balangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, MLAs Narasingha Mishra & Dr Mukesh Mahaling, ex-Odisha minister KV Singh Deo and Director (Projects), GAIL Deepak Gupta.
Built at a cost of Rs 9.9 crore, the indoor stadium offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a main hall with four badminton courts conforming to national standards.
The project aims to enhance and promote sporting facilities in the region, foster talent and passion for sports among the youth.
It will help western Odisha, particularly Balangir district, greatly as there is potential and talent here for excelling in sports at the national and international levels.
The Director (Projects), GAIL (India) Limited said GAIL takes pride in supporting this CSR project and remains committed to contributing to the development and welfare of communities through its CSR initiatives. He added that the company believes in empowering the youth by providing access to quality sports infrastructure and nurturing their aspirations.
