Bhubaneswar: The Botanical Garden of the Nandankanan Zoological Park, near here, will reopen to visitors from December 1.
The zoo authorities have decided to open the Botanical Garden considering the fall in daily COVID cases in the state and demand for the location for picnickers in the ensuing winter. The garden has remained closed for the visitors though the zoo was reopened on August 3 apprehending that large congregation of the revellers might lead to spread of the pandemic.
According to zoo sources, the Botanical Garden will remain open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8 am to 5 pm with Monday being the closed holiday in a week.
The visitors can book the ‘pindis” (platforms) in the garden for picnic and entertainment by paying the users’ fee. Not more than 15 people will be allowed to use a pindi and have to follow the COVID protocols during their stay, the sources added.
The zoo authorities are expecting more than 500 footfall in the garden in a day once it reopens, the sources said.
