Bhubaneswar: Train services were disrupted between Rayagada and Koraput between 9.30 am and 1 pm on Wednesday after a huge boulder fell on tracks between Tigiri and Laliguma in Odisha’s Koraput under the Waltair Division.
Following the blockade, the Visakhapatnam-Koraput train was short terminated at Rayagada.
There are reports of mudslides and some portions of railway tracks have also been submerged with debris flowing down the hills due to incessant rain in both the districts for the past three to four days. A quick action team from Koraput along with the engineering and technical staff rushed to the spot and removed the boulder and trees from the tracks, the sources further said, adding train movement was restored by 3 pm.
