Khurda: A 13-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death inside his house by an unidentified attacker in Jatani area of Odisha’s Khurda district on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Benapanjari village under the jurisdiction of Jatani police station in the district when the boy, identified as Subham Paltasingh, was studying inside a room in the house, sources said. The main door of the house was open.
The miscreant suddenly barged into the house and attacked the Class IX student when he was preparing for his examination on the ground floor of the house, causing him grievous injuries. The attacker immediately fled the scene after committing the crime.
While the mother of the boy was cooking in the kitchen, his sister and father were on the first floor of the house. They rushed to the site after hearing the scream, but the attacker had had run away by then.
The victim’s father, Manoj Paltasingh, is stated to be a school teacher.
The boy, found lying in a pool of blood, was rescued and rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Khurda where doctors declared him dead.
On being informed, a team of police personnel visited the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. While the reason behind the gruesome incident is yet to be ascertained, police have initiated steps to examine the CCTVs in the locality.
