Bhubaneswar: Boyanika on Saturday organised an exclusive fashion show in Bhubaneswar to mark week-long celebration of the Handloom Day.
The fashion show held on the theme “Threads of Tradition” at Ekamra Haat in the city was inaugurated by Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts department.
The 9th National Handloom Day is being celebrated throughout the state from August 7 to 15 to offer an opportunity to those respecting Odisha’s weaving culture and tradition to support the weaver artisans.
With the weavers carrying forward the profession from generation to generation with their exceptional skill and creative ability, the handloom products of the state have become an inseparable part of the country’s rich culture and tradition.
The objective of the Handloom Day is to generate awareness on the importance of handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
During the fashion show, Boyanika showcased the contemporary dresses for youths apart from sarees and other handloom materials.
Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Skill Development & Technical Education department and Commerce & Transport department, Shovan Krishna Sahu, Director of Textiles & Handloom, Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director, National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhubaneswar and Pranati Chhotray, Managing Director, Boyanika & Director, Handicrafts department were also present.
