Balangir: Two days after a 15-year-old girl was found dead with her throat slit in her house inside her home at Nikhil Nagar slum in Odisha’s Balangir town, two persons including her boyfriend were arrested by the police on Saturday in connection with the murder.
Sources said that police have also seized the weapon used in the murder of the Plus II girl student, identified as Seshadri Nag.
The arrested accused have been identified as Seshadri’s boyfriend Milan Rana (21) and his associate. Another associate of Milan is stated to be absconding and efforts are on to nab him.
While the girl’s body was spotted lying in a pool of blood with her throat slit in her house, a teddy bear was lying at the site.
Police sources said Seshadri and Milan were in a love relationship for a long time, but the girl no more wanted to continue with the relationship.
A heated argument erupted between the two after Seshadri told Milan to end their relationship. She also returned the teddy bear, which Milan had gifted her. In a fit of rage, Milan slit her throat with a sharp weapon, they said.
The accused fled the scene after committing the crime and hid the weapon used in the murder at a hill nearby.
After a preliminary investigation, police took the help of Government Railway Police (GRP) and others to arrest Milan from Vijayawada when he was planning to move to another state by train.
After arresting Milan and one of his associates, Bolangir police recreated the crime scene. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
