BPUT students stage protest against irregularities in result publication

Cuttack: Hundreds of students of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) staged a massive demonstration at Press Chhak here protesting alleged irregularities in publication of B.Tech results.
Besides staging road blockades, the protestors under the banner of United BPUT Students’ Association stopped several buses belonging to different engineering institutions at Khan Nagar.
“We had to take to the streets after the University paid no heed to discrepancies in evaluation of answer papers, delay in publication of results and glitches in the institution’s website. The association will intensify the protest, if the authorities fail to consider our demands at the earliest,” said an agitating student.
The University has witnessed similar strikes by students in the past. In 2015, the protest turned violent when police had to resort to mild lathicharge to disperse a group of 50 agitating students.
