Berhampur: Multidisciplinary technical approach was the need of the present day to meet the growing demands of the society, said Prof Amiya Kumar Rath, Vice-Chancellor Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) on Saturday.
He was speaking at a two-day national conference on “Advanced Computing Techniques”, organised on the premises of Roland Institute of Technology at Golanthara in Berhampur of Odisha’s Ganjam district. He stressed on such academic exercises periodically for the faculty and students alike.
More than 30 research papers were presented along with several keynote addresses from IIT Kharagpur, IIT Patna, IGIT Sarang, JNTU Hyderabad and Vizianagaram and various colleges across Odisha at the conference. Similarly, more than 50 faculty members and research scholars from across India participated in the event.
Prof Siddharth Panda, Dean, Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla; Prof D Chandra Sekhar Rao from BPUT, Jammula Jayalakshmi, Chairperson and Dr Sruti Jammula, Director of Roland Group of Institutes and Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, Consultant Endocrinologist also spoke at the conference.
The conference was organised by a team, led by principal Prof Gunamani Jena and faculty members from various departments including Prof Sanat Patro, Prof Rakesh Ranjan Polai, Prof Sunil Sahoo, Prof Gauri Shankar Panda while Payal Senapati, Smita Senapati and Gitanjali Sahu managed the inaugural event.
The valedictory function was addressed by Prof J Jaya Suma from JNTU, Vizianagaram. Awards were presented to the top performers followed by distribution of certificates of attendance to the participants. Prof Gunamani Jena offered the vote of thanks.
