Breach In Amit Shah’s Security During Mumbai Visit, One Held

New Delhi: The Mumbai Police has arrested a person, who worked as a personal assistant for an Andhra Pradesh MP, for posing as an official of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and breaching Home Minister Ami Shah’s security during his visit to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fandanvis’s residence.

Amit Shah ended his two-day visit to Mumbai on Wednesday but the incident has been reported today, NDTV reported.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the person, identified as Hemant Pawar, was seen roaming suspiciously closer to the security detail of Amit Shah at Sagar Bungalow in the Malabar Hills of Mumbai. The 32-year-old was also wearing an MHA band which was not meant to be worn by him. When the police found out about the man roaming around suspiciously near Shah and Fadnavis on Tuesday, they launched a manhunt and within three hours he was traced when he was leaving for his hometown, Dhule in Maharashtra, India Today reported.

Police said Pawar worked as the personal assistant to an Andhra MP and also had a pass to enter Parliament, but the MHA strap that he had put up was not allowed and amounted to impersonation.

It is suspected that Hemant Pawar was trying to show off to some people that he was close to the senior leadership and had also been working for the MHA, the report added.
