New Delhi: Three officials from Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MOCA) were among four people arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday in connection with a bribery case.
A team from the central agency recovered cash worth around Rs 60 lakh from the possession of the accused.
Two of the arrested officials were posted as Joint Director (Manjit Singh) and Senior Technical Assistant (Ruhi Arora) in the Delhi office of Director General at MOCA. Another Joint Director from MOCA (Puneet Duggal), currently posted as Official Liquidator at Corporate Bhawan in Chennai, was also arrested, along with an associate of a Mumbai-based private company, Alok Industries (Reshabh Raizada).
The accused public servants were allegedly engaged in corrupt and illegal activities, like accepting bribes from a private individual in exchange for favourable treatment.
Following a complaint filed on July 28 against the accused officials, CBI laid a trap and apprehended the Joint Director while he was receiving a bribe of Rs 3 lakh. The probe agency subsequently nabbed the other accused.
After the arrests, CBI officials carried out searches at various locations in Delhi, Gurugram and Chennai, leading to the recovery of approximately Rs 59.80 lakh in cash, along with several incriminating documents and digital evidence.
