Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Thursday granted conditional bail to the tehsildar of Balianta tehsil in Odisha’s Khurda district.
The court directed the lower court to put conditions for her release.
The Vigilance sleuths had arrested Pradhan and the data entry operator of Balianta Tehsil office Dhaneswar Sahoo on June 4 for receiving a bribe of Rs 1.2 lakh from one Kailash Rath of Sastringar in Bhubaneswar for the conversion of land category.
According to the complaint by Rath, the data entry operator had demanded the bribe for the conversion of his land in an OLR case. Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance had laid a trap and caught Sahoo red-handed while accepting the bribe money.
Subsequently, the tehsildar was also arrested on charges of demanding bribe.
