Bhubaneswar: The Odisha vigilance sleuths apprehended Banamali Parida, Additional Tehsildar of Gania Tehsil in Nayagarh district, for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 13,000 bribe.
According to sources, he had allegedly demanded the illegal gratification to release the complainant’s seized sand-laden truck and had collected the first instalment of Rs 10,000 on July 24. He was nabbed by a team of Vigilance while accepting the remaining amount.
A case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 at Bhubaneswar Vigilance police station and further investigation is on, the sources added.
