Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended Section Officer at the office of Commissioner of Food Safety, Bhubaneswar, Girija Shankar Das while allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 bribe.
According to sources, Das had demanded the bribe money from the complainant to process the file for change of the name of pharmacist of the latter’s medicine store. The section officer had assured him to get it done by influencing a staff of Drugs Controller, Bhubaneswar, where he was posted earlier. The entire bribe money has been recovered from his possession.
While a case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, simultaneous searches are on at 2 locations linked to Das from disproportionate angle, the sources added.
