Balangir: A man was left shell-shocked after his newly-wed wife allegedly eloped with her suspected lover soon after the marriage was solemnised at Mukundapur village under Deogaon block in Odisha’s Balangir district.
According to sources, the bride was found missing from the venue when the ‘baraatis’ were readying to return home after the wedding and feast on Thursday night. A frantic search thereafter yielded no results.
On scanning the footage of a nearby CCTV camera, they spotted her fleeing with a youth on a motorcycle. It is suspected that he could be her lover and the duo might have hatched the plan to elope from the wedding venue.
The groom, identified as Prem Kumar Majhi, told the media that she had never mentioned about any relationship during their courtship period. He has lodged a complaint with Town police seeking compensation since the incident damaged his reputation.
