Bhawanipatna: The parents of a minor girl forced her to get married to the groom of their elder daughter who had fled on the day of marriage in Kalahandi district.
According to sources, the groom along with his relatives and friends from Tentulikhunti under Kalampur block had arrived at Malpada under Jaipatna block for the marriage on Tuesday night.
Soon after the groom arrived, the bride’s family came to know that she had fled for unknown reasons. With the consent of the groom’s relatives, the bride’s parents got their 15-year-old daughter married to the same boy. Later, the newly married couple went back to the groom’s house.
On being informed, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) and a police team led by Jaipatna CDPO Jayanti Behera rushed to the groom’s house and rescued the minor girl.
