Bridges In Odisha Under Maoist Target: IB Alerts Security Personnel

Bhubaneswar: The Intelligence Bureau (IB) has alerted security personnel in Odisha about the CPI.(Maoist) outfit plans to blow up bridges in the remote areas of South Odisha districts.

According to the IB report, top Maoist leader N. Keshab Rao has directed the cadres to blow up Saptadhara bridge in Malkangiri district. Apart from this, he has directed them to attack vehicles being used in the construction of roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the remotes areas of Koraput district.

Except for Saptadhara bridge, the IB has not mentioned about any other bridge in Odisha.

The IB has also said that since Rao’s appointment as the secretary of the CPI-Maoist outfit, there have a series of high-intensity blasts in Chhattisgarh, bordering  Malkangiri district.

Acting on the IB report, the Centre has asked the BSF and the CRPF to remain on high alert to foil any subversive attempt of the Left-wing extremists.
