Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped the busy thoroughfare in Samantarapur in the city on Sunday afternoon after a youth was hacked to death by a man with a sharp weapon.
The horrific incident, which was captured in a CCTV in the locality, shows two bike-borne miscreants chasing the sweet stall owner and killing him on the spot with a sharp weapon.
Sources said the victim, identified as Sambhu, was runing a sweet stall in the locality. He had a business rivalry with another sweet stall owner.
Tension ran high in the area after the irate locals staged a road blockade on Bhubaneswar-Puri National Highway demanding arrest of the assailants.
Following information, personnel from Lingaraj police station rushed to the spot and pacified the locals. The road blockade was withdrawn after they assured of arresting the assailants.
Till reports last came in, police have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants after examining the CCTV footage.
