Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Monday arrested a broker on the charge of trying to encash more than Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).

The accused, arrested by Bharatpur Police, has been identified as Dilip Behera.

Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash told mediapersons said that the accused, who works as broker of a private hospital with a commission of 40 per cent, was trying to swindle over Rs 5 lakh by producing fake medical bills in the name of people who haven’t undergone any treatment.

“The Health Department during a verification suspected Behera’s modus operandi and lodged a complaint with the police,” the DCP said.
