Balasore/Bhadrak: Asha Behera (12) and her cousin Sushant Dalai (15) died when lightning struck their house at Barunsingh Mandagaon village in Balasore district while they were having meals on the verandah on Monday.
Sushant’s elder sister and her husband also sustained critical injuries in the incident, which took place while Asha was on a visit to his cousin’s place on Raksha Bandha.
The day saw four more lightning deaths.
A farmer died after being struck by lightning at Nilagiri in the district.
In Bhadrak, three persons from Chandbali Mathasahi, Sashtri ghat and Paitipur village under Govindpur panchayat died in lightning strikes.
