Siblings Die In Wall Collapse, Girls Drown In Baitarani In Keonjhar

Anandpur: A brother-sister duo was killed after portion of the wall of their house collapsed at Manoharpur village under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar district late on Sunday.

The incident took place when one Rukmini Munda was sleeping inside the house with her children – Bablu Munda (2), Gita Munda (5) and Hema Munda (3). The wall suddenly collapsed and fell on them following incessant rainfall.

Bablu and Gita, who got trapped under the wall, died on the spot while Rukmini and Hema were rescued by locals.

They were admitted to Ghatagaon hospital with critical injuries.

It is suspected that the wall of the thatched house had become weak due to incessant rainfall since the past few days.

Meanwhile, two girls drowned while taking bath in the Baitarani river near Goudadiha Ghat in Keonjhar district. The body of one of the victims was later fished out from the deep waters.

Search operation is underway by fire officials to trace the other missing girl.
