Bhubaneswar: A special squad of Excise Intelligence and Enforcement Bureau on Wednesday seized brown sugar and ganja in Odisha capital.
According to sources, a youth was arrested and brown sugar worth Rs 55 lakh seized from his possession at Khandagiri Square here. He was identified as Munna Sethy. He has reportedly confessed to have procured the brown sugar from Khurda to sell it in the city.
In a separate raid, the intelligence sleuths intercepted a truck near Chandaka, on the outskirts of the city, following inputs about ganja being transported to Bihar from Andhra Pradesh. Altogether, 44 packets of the contraband worth Rs 9 lakh were seized from the vehicle. The driver, however, managed to escape.
The truck owner and the transport agency have been summoned for further investigation, the sources added.
