Cuttack: Brown Sugar worth more than Rs 10 lakh was seized from a youth by the Commissionerate Police in the city on Thursday.
According to reports, the youth, identified as Kartik Das alias Ghunga, was spotted moving suspiciously by a police team which was patrolling on Jagatpur market premises. Sub-Inspector Truptimayee Sahu, who was leading the team of Chauliaganj police station, called Kartik and on searching him, found 10.3 gram of brown sugar in his possession. The police team seized the brown sugar and arrested Kartik.
Kartik admitted to the police that he was waiting for a man near Jagatpur market to sell the contraband. A native of Golanthara area in Berhampur, he is staying in Telisahi of the city.
The police have registered a case and further investigation is on to find out involvement of other persons.
