Balasore: Excise officials have seized brown sugar worth more than Rs 7 lakh and arrested one person in this connection in Odisha’s Balasore district.
Following reliable information, the satellite unit of Excise department in Jaleswar conducted a raid on a place near the petrol pump beside the National Highway 57 at Chandeneswar, sources said.
During the raid, the Excise sleuths seized brown sugar weighing 72 gram from the drug peddler. The cost of the seized brown sugar was estimated to be Rs 7.2 lakh.
They also arrested the drug peddler, identified as Dibakar Nayak of Kamarda village under Jaleswar police station. The Excise officials have registered a case against him, the sources added.
