Balasore: Police on Wednesday arrested a woman and seized 1.2 kg brown sugar worth Rs 1.20 crore from her possession.
Acting on a tip off, a police team led by inspector-in-charge of Sahadevkhuntia police station Pragyan Mohanty raided drug peddler Saninara Bibi’s house at Arda Bazaar Masjid Lane in Balasore district and nabbed her. The raid also led to recovery of 1.2 kg brown sugar.
Police are trying to find the source from where she procured the contraband and whether more persons were involved in the racket.
On May 28, brown sugar weighing above 1 kg was seized from the same area in the district during a joint raid by the police officials and excise sleuths. A drug peddler identified as SK Rafiq was arrested.
