Dhenkanal: Two drug-peddlers were arrested and 1.9 kg brown sugar worth Rs 1 crore was seized from them by an STF team at Ghatipiri in Dhenkanal.
Acting on intelligence inputs, an STF team arrested Rakesh Kumar Sahoo of Godidihi and Santosh Kumar Sahoo of Gadasila in Dhenkanal.
“A case was registered against them under the NDPS Act and the two will be forwarded to the court of Special Judge-cum-District & Sessions Judge, Dhenkanal,” an STF official said.
Since 2020, the STF in its special drive against narcotic drugs has seized more than 44 kg of brown sugar/heroin and more than 86 quintals of ganja/marijuana.
Earlier in October this year, 10 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 1 lakh was recovered from a drug-peddler in the same district. Later, in November too, five persons were arrested for trading 27 gm brown sugar worth Rs 2.5 lakh.
