Brown Sugar Worth Rs 10 Lakh Seized During Multiple Raids

Bhubaneswar: Excise sleuths on Tuesday seized brown sugar worth over Rs 10 lakh during multiple raids in and around the Odisha capital.

Simultaneous raids were conducted at Unit-3, Unit-4 and Balianta areas from where a huge cache of brown sugar and ganja were recovered.

The market value of the banned substances is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh, sources said.

Two persons were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The raids were carried out after the excise officials received a tip-off regarding the illegal trade.

In a similar incident, another team of excise department seized ganja weighing around 1.5 quintal from an autorickshaw near Nirakarpur in Khurda district. A person was arrested in this connection and the vehicle seized.
