Bargarh: Excise officials accompanied by local police seized brown sugar worth Rs 30 lakh from a house in Mahantipada in Odisha’s Bargarh district. One person, identified as Raju Tandi, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
Bargarh Town police in-charge Supan Kumar Nayak said that based on a tipoff, a special squad raided the house and seized the brown sugar. Besides, cash worth Rs 1.2 lakh and other incriminating materials were seized from the accused.
“We are also investigating the transaction receipts of his customers,” he added.
It is suspected that drug suppliers in Bargarh are sourcing brown sugar from Balasore and Chhattisgarh and supply it to customers from well-to-do families.
