Balasore: The Excise officials and police seized brown sugar worth Rs 94 lakh and arrested five persons from three different places in Balasore district on Thursday.
The Excise officials seized 240 gram of brown sugar worth Rs 24 lakh from a youth of Mayurbhanj district from Rajpur village in Jaleswar of Balasore district while the police arrested him.
Likewise, acting on tip off, Jaleswar police conducted raid at Jhadeswarpur area at around 9 pm and seized 300 gram of brown sugar estimated to cost Rs 55 lakh. They arrested three persons in this connection. The arrested persons belong to Jhadeswarpur.
In the third case, the Excise officials conducted raid at Machhua area under Basta police limits in Balasore and seized 153 gram of brown sugar worth around Rs 15 lakh. One person was arrested in this connection.
