BSCL Organises ‘Greenathon’ To Promote Non-Motorised Transport In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Continuing its efforts to promote Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) in the city, the Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL) on Sunday organised cyclothon,  ‘Greenathon’.

IG Police and cycling anthusiast Amitav Thakur inaugurated the cyclothon that started from HDFC Bank at Jharpada and covered Esplanade Mall and other major landmarks before ending there. Around 80 people participated in the ‘Greenathon’ in the chilly  winter morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Thakur said, “Cycling is the best way to keep oneself fit and healthy. We must keep cycling on daily basis to improve our immunity. In fact, it can bring in a healthy change in the society, particularly in the current pandemic situation.”

Anant Pattanaik, vice-president and cluster head of HDFC Bank and Sandeep Patnaik of Overall Sports, the partners of the ‘Greenathon’ also spoke.

“The efforts of BSCL to promote cycling are making more and more people aware of  healthy and smart lifestyle,” said Ajitav, a participant from Saheed Nagar.

Shantanu Kumar from Jharpada said, “The city authorities are promoting NMT and cycling. As responsible citizens, we must make it a habit to keep ourselves healthy and active.”

The officials of BSCL under the guidance of general manager Kamaljit Das coordinated the event. The COVID appropriate behaviour was followed by all the participants.
