BSE Odisha Class X Summative Assessment-1 From Today

Bhubaneswar: The Summative Assessment (SA)-1 examination of Class X students conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, will begin on Wednesday.

According to sources, extensive preparations have been made by the board for the SA-1 examination which will be held till November 30. Special squads were formed to keep a vigil during examinations and prevent cheating.

The students will enter the hall at 9 am on the first day of the exam and subsequently at 9.15 am.

The seal of the question papers will be opened 15 minutes before the examination every day. The students will be given an additional 15 minutes for their Maths test, said sources.

“This year, the students will be writing their papers at examination centres other than their own institutions,” Vice-President of BSE, Odisha Nihar Ranjan Mohanty told the media. The exam will be conducted at 3,029 examination centres.

This year 5,40,712 lakh students are appearing in the SA-1 exam, informed BSE president Ramashish Hazra.

Candidates have been barred from taking anything other than a pen and their respective admit cards inside the examination centres.

Hazra said that there is a strict ban on mobile phones inside examination centres.

Similarly, there are 108 centres for 2,914 examinees Madhyama exams while 7,181 examinees will take the exam in 146 centres for the State Open School Certificate exam.

It is pertinent to mention here that the second edition of the High School Certificate Exam and Madhyama Exam will be known as Summative Assessment-2 or SA-2.

“Both of these exams are of equal importance as these will be added for the awarding of High School and Madhyama Certificates. Both SA-1 and SA-2 carry equal weightage i.e 40 per cent weightage. So it has to be taken seriously. Final results will be published on the basis of 40 per cent weightage each for SA-1 and SA-2 and 20 per cent weightage for internal assessment,” said Mohanty.
