BSE Postpones NRTS & Primary Scholarship Exams In Odisha For Cyclone ‘Dana’

Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha has postponed the NRTS and Primary Scholarshop examinations due to the cyclone ‘Dana’.

In a notification in this regard on Monday, the Board in Cuttack said, the National Rural Talent Scholarship (NRTS) and Primary Scholarship examinations have been postponed till further orders. While the examination for the NRTS was scheduled to be held on October 23, that of Primary Scholarship for October 25.

“In view of the Mid Weather Bulletin issued by the IMD on dated October 20 and subsequent press release by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) of Odisha regarding cyclonic disturbance likely to develop over Bay of Bengal during 21st to 26th October, the NRTS & Primary Scholarship examination, 2024 scheduled to be held on 23rd & 25th October respectively are hereby postponed until further orders. The fresh date for conduct of the said examinations will be notified late,” the notification read.

However, the Board announced that the date of the evaluation of answer books of DEIED examination, 2024 is rescheduled to commence from November 5.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast that the well-marked low-pressure area over eastcentral Bay of Bengal is expected to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression by October 22 morning and into a cyclonic storm by October 23 over the same region.

The intensity of rain is likely to increase as the system is expected to move northwestwards and reach northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts by October 24 morning. Continuing to move northwestwards, the system is very likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during night of October 24 and early morning October 25 as a severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph, it added.
