Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) will withdraw the notification relating to the form fill-up for the annual Matric Examination in Odisha scheduled next year.
In a letter, School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash has directed the Board president Ramashis Hazra to immediately withdraw the notification.
Notably, the Board had in a notification on November 5 had said that the form fill-up will be held from November 9 to December 2.
However, the decision of the Board was decried by the students and the guardians.
The guardians had contended that while no classes are being held due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only 20 lakh out of about 60 lakh students are availing online classes, the decision of the Board asking the students to fill up the forms is grossly unfortunate.
They also said that while the School and Mass Education Department has announced the closure of schools till December 31 apprehending the second wave of COVID-19 during winter, the Board has come up with a notification which shows that there is no coordination between the Board and the Department.
