BSF Catches Trained Eagle From Pakistan

New Delhi: Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Wednesday, caught a trained eagle fitted with a GPS tracker, which flew from the Pakistani side into India at the Shahgarh border area in Jaisalmer district. A special type of ring was attached to the bird’s legs on which some numbers were written. The BSF handed over the eagle to the forest department and is investigating the numbers written on the ring it was carrying, Times of India reported.

Members of royal families from Arab countries are camping in the Pakistani areas across the border adjoining Jaisalmer and Bikaner to catch the rare bird Houbara bustard, which is called Tilor in the local language. They have trained hawks and eagles to catch the bird and the eagle may be one of these. The hunting eagles are of Perigon and Lager breeds, the report added quoting sources.
