Bhubaneswar: Inspector General of BSF Kailash Chandra Jat has underlined intensive combing operations along Odisha’s border with Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.

On a two-day visit to Malkangiri and Koraput district on January 18 and 19, Jat, Inspector General, Frontier Headquarters (Special Operations) BSF, Odisha reviewed the security scenario of the region and operational preparedness of BSF troops.

Dhirendra Kumar, DIG (Operations), Sanjeev Kumar, DIG (Intelligence) of Ftr HQ BSF (Spl-Ops) Odisha and Sailendra Kumar Sinha, DIG of Malkangiri Sector and other senior officials of Border Security Force (BSF) accompanied Jat during the visit.

On the first day, Jat visited interior areas in Bejangiwada Reserve Forest and Gomphakonda Reserve Forest and assessed the recent LWE activities in the region. He also went to BSF camps at Bodigetta, MV-72 and MV-79.

On the second day of his visit, Jat reviewed the security scenario in Swabhiman Anchal and went to interior villages Janbai, Badapada, Jantapai, Jodambo and Hantalguda. He interacted with troops deployed in remotely located Company Operating Bases.

While praising BSF Jawans for their dedication and efforts for extensive domination in the area, he stressed on intensive combing operations both along Odisha-Andhra Pradesh and Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.

The IG also emphasised on winning over the local tribes so that maximum benefits of government sponsored programmes can be extended to the marginalised and poor people living in the remote areas.

Sating that it would help them join the mainstream population, he said the BSF deployed in the remotest parts should remain approachable to the people at all time for all kinds of assistance.

Since its deployment in Odisha in 2010, BSF has been successfully countering the Maoists for safety and security of the public in the interior and remote localities of Malkangiri and Koraput. In recent days, the establishment of new camps by BSF along Odisha-Chhattisgarh and Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border has been instrumental in putting a considerable check over LWE activities in this region.
