Bhubaneswar: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan from Odisha was found dead under mysterious circumstances at Agartala in Tripura on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Ishwar Chandra Dora of Belakhandi village in Kalahandi district. He had joined the BSF in 2009 and a member of its 42nd battalion stationed at Lankamura Border Outpost (BOP).
According to sources, Dora, who had left the outpost for duty last night, was found dead in a nullah near LankamuraiIron bridge in Agartala this morning. It is being suspected that the 40-year-old jawan might have died after falling from a culvert.
“We have also recovered his rifle, and there are no signs of bullet injuries on his body. Based on our preliminary findings, we suspect that he succumbed to injuries sustained from the fall,” a police officer was quoted as saying.
The circumstances leading the incident is investigated. The BSF commandant in Tripura has informed his family about his death.
