Malkangiri: The security forces on Friday foiled the attempts of the Maoists to trigger landmine explosion by detecting and recovering IEDs on a village road in the district.
According to sources, the jawans of 9BN BSF camp at Ghanabeda were engaged in a combing operation near Korigandhi village in Swabhiman Anchal of the district to ensure security to road construction work in the area on the day.
While checking a foot track near the village on Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, the BSF jawans detected the IEDs buried under soil. They carefully recovered 5 IEDs and defused those at a safe distance. This is for second time that Maoists’ explosive materials have been seized in the district in the last 15 days.
It may be noted that the security forces have been carrying out combing operation regularly after the BSF cap was set up at Ghanabeda, ensuring security to the local people.
