Malkangiri: A civic action programme to reach out to the tribals was organised at Badapadar village in Chitrakonda block in Odisha’s Malkangiri on Monday.
Inspector General Ftr Headquarters (Spl Ops) Odisha, SC Budakoti; DIG, Sector Tac HQ BSF Malkangiri, Sailendra Kumar Sinha and Vinod Sareen, Commandant, 88 Battalion, were present and interacted with the tribals during the outreach programme.
A Raising Star Sports Club was inaugurated by IG BSF (Spl-Ops) Budakoti at Saraipalli village. The club has been adopted by 88 Battalion and will provide all sports items as well as necessary help and guidance for promoting sports, health and fitness amongst tribal youth.
A volleyball tournament was also organised among village sports teams at the venue. The winner and runnersup teams were presented with trophies and all participating teams were gifted a volleyball and volleyball net.
Later the BSF distributed blankets, cotton gamcha, saree, utensils, rubber slippers, steel plates and glass, plastic buckets, candle water filters, umbrella, led torch lights, solar lights, radio transistors, schoolbags, school stationary, football, volleyball and nets and sanitizers among the tribal and students.
Budakoti called upon the youth to complete their education, remain healthy and fit and lead a lifestyle free of drugs and stress. He also motivated them to join the security forces and serve the country while assuring them of all possible help in pre recruitment training.
