Bhubaneswar: Unearthing a Maoist dump in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on Wednesday recovered a huge quantity of weapons, including explosive devices, hidden by the ultras.
Acting on intelligence inputs, BSF personnel from the Company Operating Bases at Ghanabeda and Gurasethu of the 177th Battalion conducted a special operation near the Kondakamberu Reserve Forest.
During an intensive search of the area, the team unearthed a Maoist dump hidden inside a plastic drum buried under a tree in the jungle close to Arapadar village within the jurisdiction of Jodambo Police Station of the district, BSF said in a release.

The IEDs were successfully neutralized by the BSF Bomb Disposal Squad. This region has long been a haven for Maoist militants, where they and their supporters have exploited the area for shelter and logistical support. They have a history of planting IEDs, stockpiling explosive materials, and concealing weapons in remote locations, primarily to target Security Forces (SFs) and police personnel deployed in the region.
The BSF has played a pivotal role in restoring peace and stability to the Swabhiman Anchal, formerly known as the cut-off area.
