Bhubaneswar: In the ongoing efforts to curb Maoist insurgency, BSF personnel have unearthed a Maoist dump in a reserve forest in Odisha’s Malkangiri district bordering Andhra Pradesh.
Acting on specific intelligence about the presence of the Maoists, the BSF troops from the 142 Battalion carried out planned operation in Bejangiwada reserve forest near Dulagandi village under Kalimela police station in the dis5rict on Thursday, according to a press release of BSF.
During the combing operation, the BSF personnel found the Maoist dump concealed in rock cavities on the mountain’s slope and seized those. The cache included various materials crucial for Maoist operations.
The seized materials included three SBML guns, four electric detonators, 98 Gelatin sticks, two directional mines, three empty LPG cylinders, 10 saline bottles and 12 medicine bottles.
The BSF claimed that the recovery of these materials is a significant setback to Maoist operations in the region. It would not only disrupt the supply chains of the Maoists but also prevent their future attacks.
Bejangiwada Reserve Forest area has long been known as a stronghold for Maoist activities, where insurgents stockpiled IEDs, IED-making materials, and arms to target security forces and police operations.
