BSF Unearths Several Maoist Dumps In Forest Of Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: BSF personnel unearthed several Maoist dumps in a forest area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Saturday.

On the basis of specific information about the dumps, the personnel of 142 Bn BSF carried out an operation in Silakota Reserve Forest under Podia police limits in the district.

During intensive search in the area, the BSF troops located multiple Maoist dumps, buried under trees located closely at a distance of 4 metre from each other. The area was located at a distance of around 300 metre inside the jungle from the connecting road between Bapanpalli and Silakota village along the Reserve Forest.

The security force seized 3 pressure cookers, 20 metre of Cordex, 24 gelatine sticks and 2 bundles of electric wire from the dumps in the forest.

BSF has been carrying out operations in highly Naxal affected district of Malkangiri in southern Odisha to weaken the banned outfit. Earlier, the area used to be highly influenced by Maoists and their sympathizers.

The Maoist outfits would keep IEDs, Arms & IED making materials at isolated places to be used against the security forces and police operating in these areas.

It may be noted that security personnel had recovered a huge quantity of explosive materials after an exchange of fire with a group of Maoists inside a forest in Paikmal area of Odisha’s Bargarh district on Friday.
