Surat: In a fresh success story of Odisha Government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, an Odia girl with brain tumour was cured after a successful surgery at a hospital in Surat, Gujrat with the help of BSKY health card.
The girl, identified as Sohini Dakua, is the daughter of Biswanath Dakua who hails from Beguniapada village in Khalikot block of Ganjam district.
Bishwanath Dakua, who works as a Lumes Machine operator in Surat, was unable to take his daughter to any good private hospital for treatment. In the initial stage of Sohini’s ailment, Biswanath approached a hospital in Berhampur and the MRI test detected a brain tumour.
However, he was unable to get the surgery done in a good hospital due to paucity of funds.
Later when he came in contact with a social worker from Ganjam who helped him and took up the case with Surat Odia Samaj. Bishwanath also came to know about the benefits of the BSKY health card from the social worker. Finally, arrangements were made for surgery at KD Nupur Hospital.
Dr Harin Modi and his team examined various aspects of Sohini’s health condition and successfully conducted the operation recently. Bishwanath is happy that his daughter was cured with the help of the facility.
