Cuttack: A day after a fire at the BSNL office in Cuttack disrupted phone and broadband services in the city and eight adjoining districts, BSNL on Saturday said efforts were on to restore services within a week.
“The restoration work to restore services is going on a war-footing. We will try to provide internet services to the banks by tomorrow. Then, we will take up restoration of mobile network services,” BSNL Assistant General Manager (AGM), Transmission, Tapas Prasad Behera, told the media here.
He stated that BSNL services were intact in Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Angul districts. “The priority now was to restore services in Cuttack city and the adjoining districts,” he added.
The incident had had occured around 12.20 pm on Friday. The fire broke out in a room at the fourth floor of the BSNL building on Barajakabti Road. It took several hours for five fire engines to douse the flames. Several equipment including power charging batteries, cables and control units were gutted.
