Jio Fiber Effect: BSNL Launches New Family Plan

As expected, internet service providers (ISP) are rolling out cheaper and faster plans after Reliance announced its game-changing Jio Fiber plans.

JioFiber, which will begin services from September 5, will have packages starting at Rs 700 a month and speeds of 100Mbps.

State-owned BSNL on Wednesday announced a combo plan priced at Rs 1,199 a month. Like Jio Fiber, subscribers of this plan will also get free unlimited calls and data. Unlike Jio Fiber, BSNL customers will get free calls on mobile networks as well, 3 mobile numbers to be precise in this plan. Users will get 10Mbps speed with FUP limit of 30GB per day. Post FUP speed is 2Mbps. To sum up, the BSNL BBG Combo ULD 1199 Family has:

• 30GB/day 10Mbps broadband internet, 2Mbps post FUP
• 3 SIM cards with unlimited calls within India and 1GB/day data
• Free online TV access on one of these SIMs.

Talking about Jio Fiber effect, Airtel had recently announced 3-months free Netflix subscription with its broadband internet packages. Bhubaneswar-based Wefe also is offering a year’s subcription free with a year’s package.
