New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the Union Budget 2020 on Saturday. Here is the list of things that have become cheaper and expensive:
Costlier:
- Excise duty hike on cigarettes and tobacco products
- Customs duty on imported footwear and furniture increased
- Health cess on import of medical equipment
pan> - Customs duty on wall fans increased from 7.5 per cent to 20 per cent
- Customs duty on tableware/kitchenware made of porcelain or China ceramic, clay iron, steel, copper doubled to 20 per cent
- Mobile phones
- Commercial vehicle parts, except electric vehicles
Cheaper:
- Customs duty halved on import of newsprint, light-weight coated paper to 5 per cent
- Anti-dumping duty on purified terephthalic acid (PTA) removed
- Customs duty removed on raw sugar, agro-animal based products, Tuna bait, skimmed milk, certain alcoholic beverages, soya fibre, soya protein, etc.
