Bhubaneswar: The Budget session of Odisha Assembly was adjourned sine die on Thursday.

Speaker Surjyanarayan Patro adjourned the session after the appropriation Bill was passed in the House. The session, which began on March 25, had six working days.

On the last day of the session, the Assembly approved the 2022-23 Finance Bill. Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari had tabled interim budget (vote-on-account) envisaging Rs 1,06,000 crore for next four months in the House on Wednesday.

The interim budget included Rs 1 lakh crore for the government sector, while the total budget outlay for 2022-23 is Rs 2 lakh crore against Rs 1.70 lakh crore in 2021-22. The proposed programme budget for 2022-23 is 33% more than that of 2021-22.

While presenting the interim budget, Pujari said the state’s economy in 2022-23 is estimated to grow at the rates of 9%-9.5% compared to the national growth rate of 7.8%.

“Our focus on industries as well as MSME sector, social sector, employment generation, and higher investment in infrastructure is likely to help the state economy register a nominal growth of beyond 12 per cent in 2022-23,” he added.
