Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested a builder for allegedly duping investors.
He has been identified as Premananda Mohapatra, managing director of the Golden View Infrastructure Pvt Ltd.
Sources in the EOW said Mohapatra had taken more than Rs 4.5 crore from some people in 2014 with a promise to provide them flats at Tamando and its periphery on the outskirts of the Odisha capital within two years.
When people did not get the flat in the stipulated time, they had asked Mohapatra to return their money. Unable to pay them their money, the builder absconded.
The hapless customers later lodged a complaint with the EOW which arrested him in front of a shopping mall here this morning.
