Bhubaneswar: JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division reaffirmed its commitment to safe, sustainable and technologically advanced mining operations at its tripartite safety review meeting 2026 in Bhubaneswar.
Senior management, DGMS officials, employees and stakeholders deliberated on safety initiatives, digital innovations and collective strategies for building safer workplaces.
The programme kicked off with the lighting of ceremonial lamp, and was followed by a safety briefing, the National song, DGMS anthem and the safety oath, symbolising the shared dedication of all participants to workplace safety.
JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division Business Head Prasanna Panda emphasised the company’s continued focus on safety excellence and employee well‑being. He noted that the division has achieved zero fatalities, underscoring the effectiveness of its robust safety systems and culture of continuous improvement.
Head of Operations & Projects Ram Shankar Sharma presented key highlights of mining operations and safety practices. He also introduced WISE (Web‑enabled Illumination Surveying Equipment), an innovative digital solution developed by JSW Odisha Mining Division to enhance illumination safety standards across mining areas.
JSW Steel Mining COO Sauvick Mazumder highlighted the company’s thrust on increasing women’s participation.
“We are now at 9% and aim to increase it to 30%. We deeply value the suggestions from DGMS and our employees, and all inputs will be seriously considered and implemented,” Mazumder said.
He also made the point that in matters of safety, JSW considers no hierarchy, and noted that the division has recorded no fatal or major accident in the last five years.
DGMS officials appreciated the consistent achievement of Zero Accident at JSW Steel Odisha Mining Division, with Deputy Director General Shyam Sundar Prasad emphasising the importance of regular CPR training and retraining for all employees to strengthen emergency preparedness. He also urged organisations to enhance women employment ratio and ensure their safety at the workplace as integral aspects of sustainable and inclusive growth
