Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants allegedly broke into the government quarters of an IAS officer at VIP colony in Nayapalli area of Odisha capital on Saturday evening.
According to sources, they entered the quarters (Qr No- A/6 ) of IAS officer Prasanth Reddy, who is currently in Jharkhand on some official duty, by breaking open the lock of the main grill but had to flee from the backdoor as the security guard arrived in time to detect the burglary attempt, sources said.
“I reached the quarters at around 8.15 pm, I found the lock broken and the lights inside the quarters switched on. I immediately informed my office and the cook of the IAS officer. The burglars escaped through the backdoor by the time another IAS officer, who stays in the adjacent quarters, arrived here with police, ” Pradeep Samal, a security guard, told the media.
A crowbar and a screwdriver were found inside the quarters, he said, adding that the officer later confirmed that nothing was stolen from the house.
Meanwhile, Nayapalli police have launched an investigation into the matter.
